The BetterBack ClinicTM offers the SpineCorTM Dynamic Corrective Brace

A Dynamic Corrective Brace For Idiopathic Scoliosis and Hyperkyphosis

Idiopathic scoliosis is the most common type of spinal deformity. It is a progressive curvature of the spine that can result in significant deformity, disability, arthritic degeneration, a shortened lifespan, cardio-vascular compromise (due to compression of the heart and lungs), as well as numerous other health issues.

Idiopathic scoliosis affects millions worldwide. One in ten people have a scoliosis.  Early detection and proper treatment of idiopathic scoliosis is essential to optimize results.

Those affected with scoliosis struggling with rigid (hard) plastic or metal braces finally have a better, more comfortable solution.

  • Research shows that SpineCor has an 89% Success Rate with Idiopathic Adolescent Scoliosis.  It is the only brace that preserves normal body movement and growth and allows normal activities of daily living.  In fact, the more you move, the better it works!

There are both ADOLESCENT and ADULT versions of the SpineCor Brace.

The goal with ADOLESCENTS is correction of the developing spinal deformity.  The smaller the curve(s) and the earlier treatment is started, the more potential for correction there is.  An important point to consider is that all LARGE curves started out as SMALL curves - this is why treatment should be started as soon as possible!

The goals with ADULTS are different than with adolescents.  The SpineCor system is designed to:  improve posture, halt progression by stabilizing the spine, and reduce pain.

The SpineCor Dynamic Brace is covered by many Private Insurance Plans (extended health benefits).

Considering Surgery for Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis?

Even with proper use of the SpineCor Dynamic Brace, approximately 10% of idiopathic adolescent scoliosis cases will progress to the point where surgery is the only option.  However, in the vast majority of cases, we recommend that surgery be used as a last resort!  We recommend open communication with your surgeon and a plan of co-management in order to get the best results for you or your child.

The conclusion drawn from these findings is that the SpineCor brace is effective for the treatment of adolescent idiopathic scoliosis. Moreover, positive outcomes are maintained after 2 years because 45 (95.7%) of 47 patients stabilized or corrected their end of bracing Cobb angle up to 2 years after bracing.

The SpineCor Brace is effective for the treatment of Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis. Moreover, the positive outcome appears to be maintained in the long turn.

This initial cohort of patients demonstrated a general trend in initial decrease in spinal curvature in brace, followed by a correction and/or stabilization at the end of treatment, which was maintained through 1 and 2 years follow-up.
